Known on the club circuit as Gerry K he is a London-born stand-up who grew up in rural Essex as one of very few black faces in a small, parochial community, an experience that still colours his material today. His style is anecdotal and observational, built on honest, first-person storytelling rather than one-liners, and it has made him a distinctive voice on stages across the UK. He came to comedy almost by accident, taking to the stage on a dare, and quickly discovered a natural gift for holding a room.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis rise was rapid: within a few years he had picked up the Comedy Store's King Gong title, the Metrolife Comedy Newcomer award and the Comedy Cafe's Best Newcomer prize, credentials that opened the door to the country's biggest clubs.
