Andrew Bird headlines at October's Comedy Night

Topping the bill at the Mill’s live comedy night on Thursday 25 October is the effortlessly engaging Andrew Bird, who grew up in Towcester. He was the support act on Michael McIntyre's recent arena tour and has also supported Rhod Gilbert and Lee Hurst on tour, as well as performing internationally.

Watching The Young Ones with his brothers as an eight year old, at two in the morning on Comic Relief, Bird realised then that he wanted to be funny in some way. With his personal appeal and superbly crafted, funny anecdotes, he enthrals everyone.

Opening the night will be Perrier Award Winner, author, broadcaster and comedian Dominic Holland, father of Spiderman actor, Tom Holland. He has made numerous appearances on radio and TV including ‘Have I Got News For You’, ‘The Clive James Show’, ‘The Royal Variety Show’ and ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’. His talent for spotting people’s eccentricities and mixing in the fine-points make his observations quite unique and his appealing stage persona has the crowd immediately entranced.

Completing the line-up is the very funny self-deprecating Richard Massara who has a wicked sense of humour.

Compere for the night will be the Mill’s favourite resident MC, Pete Teckman, who has been crowned Silver Stand Up of the Year 2017 at Leicester Comedy festival, an award for comedians over 40 years of age, with his mix of self-deprecating and observational humour.

All tickets are priced at £15 (incl booking fee) and can be bought here. Doors to the Malt Room bar open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. Freshly cooked tex mex dishes will be available on the night too, from Baja Cantina, between 6pm-9pm.

Towcester Mill is fast becoming known as a comedy venue in its own right as more and more acts line up to perform in the building best known for its ales. It has joined forces with Funhouse Comedy to bring some of the UK’s top comedians, as well as the country’s finest rising stars, to Towcester.
