Those of you who popped into the Tap over the weekend may have spotted that Rubio is now back on draught - but did you know that it was 11 years ago this month that we first brewed it here at Towcester Mill? Time really does fly - or maybe it gallops along?!
Rubio was first brewed in March 2015 and is our 4.4% chestnut red ale created to celebrate the achievement of a horse called Rubio. This American bred chestnut brown horse had a fascinating connection with Towcester, as it won the Grand National on 27 March 1908 - just shy of 118 years ago!
A pint of our 4.4% abv Rubio, which is brewed with four malts and four hop varieties in time for the Grand National each year, is just £4.30. It boasts a caramel sweetness, earthy and spicy aroma with a hint of citrus and a smooth mouthfeel. Quality ale with quality pricing = a truly winning combination!
