BBC comedians at the Mill

Sam Avery and Laura Lexx headline the Mill's next Live Comedy Night three weeks today, on Thursday 24 October, as the autumn season gets underway.

Topping the bill is bestselling author and comedian Avery, aka ‘The Learner Parent, who is currently touring his show about his twin boys. He wanted to be a rock star and nearly made it; touring with Motorhead and Ice T. After a number of other jobs, he finally turned to stand-up and is renowned for his empirical skills, quick wit and enthusiasm. He has made radio appearances on BBC 5 Live, Radio 4, Radio 4 Extra, talkSPORT and BBC 6 Music, where he is a regular guest on the Steve Lamacq Roundtable show.

Opening the night will be actor, writer and stand-up the optimistic and exuberant Laura Lexx, who has appeared on ‘Live at the Apollo’, with her delightfully funny take on things, as well as 'BBC At The Edinburgh Festivals' (BBC Two), 'The Comedy Club' (BBC Radio 4 Extra) and 'The Jason Manford Show' (Absolute Radio) .She immediately charms the audience with her quick quips and is happy to discuss anything. Her distinctive style is fantastically offbeat and hilarious, as well as both cheeky and charming, delivering even her sarcasm and irony with a sparkly grin.

Completing the line-up is self-deprecating Dave Bibby, with his upbeat musical offerings.

Compere for the night will be the Mill’s popular resident MC, Pete Teckman, who has been crowned Silver Stand Up of the Year 2017 at Leicester Comedy Festival.

All tickets are priced at £15 (incl booking fee) and can be bought here. Doors to the Malt Room bar open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. There will also be hand-stretched wood-fired pizzas available from High 5 Pizza from around 5pm-8pm outside the front of the Mill.

Towcester Mill is fast becoming known as a comedy venue in its own right as more and more acts line up to perform in the building best known for its ales. It has joined forces with Funhouse Comedy since April 2017 to bring some of the UK’s top comedians, as well as the country’s finest rising stars, to Towcester.
