Steam Ale has swept the board again - and this time it has taken the top award at the Northampton County Beer Festival at Becket's Park and been crowned overall Champion Beer of the Festival!
On Friday 31 May, CAMRA Northamptonshire had over 50 judges who took part in sampling 60 beers from the county's brewers and each one was judged against the CAMRA styles; a winner was chosen from each style which then went forward to the Champions Table.
Steam Ale won the Premium Bitter category, Black Fire won the Strong Stout category and John caught up with BBC Northamptonshire yesterday to chat about our win!
The judges said that Steam Ale had a "lovely balance of maltiness/sweetness and slight citrus aroma and flavour, great head retention and beautiful colour that matches the style perfectly". We couldn't agree more - cheers guys!
