Heritage Open Day Events
July 22, 2025
We are delighted to confirm that we will be participating in the national Heritage Open Days again this year, for the fourth year running.
This year the theme for the national event is 'Architecture' and the Mill will be holding two key events on two separate dates:
- On Saturday 13 September there will be a talk hosted by Brewery Director, John Evans, entitled "Beer & Buildings". This talk will reveal the inspiration behind the Mill's beer names, linking to the local area and the building in which it brews its beer as well as how beer first came about and who paved the way to bring us real ale that we know and love today. Held in the Steam Room at 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
- On Sunday 14 September we welcome back Philomena Liggins, a local social historian who will be hosting a talk entitled "Gunpowder, Treason & Sub-Plot! The Story behind one of Northamptonshire's Tudor Mansions". Become part of the 'Jury in the Brewery' as you learn all about Sir Francis Tresham, and his link to the Gunpowder Plot and Lyveden New Bield. Held in the Malt Room at 5pm.
Although the talks are free, they must be pre-booked online to enable us to manage numbers - please book here.
There will also be a fire truck visit from Towcester fire station during Saturday afternoon and a folk session on the Sunday afternoon. We will also be offering our themed Heritage Cheeseboxes, complete with a selection of heritage cheese, crackers and chutney, over the weekend!
