Midsummer Music at the Mill

Towcester Mill Brewery is gearing up for another knock-out weekend as the town’s Midsummer Music extravaganza celebrates its 16th year.

The Brewery’s beer garden takes on a life of its own as it’s transformed with two musical stages, an outside beer and gin tent, soft drinks and ice cream, as well as delicious street food to keep everyone going over the three days of the music festival. Check out the very full programme – there’s something for everyone!

Friday 22nd June
Kicking off the evening around 6.30pm is Shattered Timbers, a four piece band playing rock and pop covers across most genres. They are followed by The Bag Ladies around 8.30pm who will be bringing their jumping jazz funk from Milton Keynes to Towcester! Their set will include a bunch of sharp tunes from Jamiroquai, Jill Scott, Brand New Heavies, Mark Ronson, AWB and Corduroy.

Food will be available from Baja Cantina with their fresh tex mex food from around 6pm to top off the first fab night of the weekend.

Saturday 23rd June
Saturday afternoon and evening has a plethora of acts to enjoy so pop along whenever you can. The Neggly Gents, a local acoustics duo, start the afternoon with a fab set of 80s covers, along with a few quirky songs thrown in! Mid afternoon from 2.30pm is Towcester Rock School showcasing Towcester’s very own up and coming young musicians. From 4.30pm-6pm is Buckingham Ukele Band and also Jo Ash – a captivating singer-songwriter with emotive vocal performances accompanied by expressive piano playing. Often likened to Kate Bush and Siouxsie Sioux. Jo also fronts rock band, Derecho.

The evening’s highlights include Safari Boots – a three-piece band with guitar/vocal, bass and drums from 6pm-7.30pm. They play a mostly original, world music inspired repertoire, with particular emphasis on African styles, as well as some Latin, a bit of reggae, and a little bit of the blues! The always brilliant Towcester Studio Band are here from 7.30pm-9pm. The final act of the evening will be local duo, After Dark, from 9pm-10.30pm. Perfect to enjoy with a pint in the beer garden… and don’t forget you’ll get a perfect view of the grand firework finale from the mount at 10.30pm.

There will be a BBQ in the afternoon from 1pm and then MYO Street Food will be here from around 5pm with their delicious street food.

Sunday 24th June
As the weekend draws to a close, Sunday offers a relaxing afternoon of music, starting with local jazz duo, Just Friends, from 1pm, who will be alternating with Top Deck until about 5pm. Mojo Mules are on stage from 5.30pm-8pm and are multi-instrumentalist musicians who form a two piece upbeat blues duo, for fans of Muddy Waters, BB King and Rory Gallagher. They deliver an energetic live set with their own unique brand of The Blues.

Food will be available from Crayfish Capers all afternoon and early evening with their delicious crayfish paella, fish cakes, fish fingers and chips so you can sit and put your feet up and enjoy the afternoon’s entertainment.
