Towcester Mill Brewery’s shop is celebrating its first anniversary this week, following a bumper weekend at the Bell Plantation’s My Little Vintage Christmas market at the end of November.
“We can’t believe how quickly this last year has flown,” said director, David Williams. “When we made plans to open a bespoke shop 18 months ago we hoped it would be popular and well received but we had no idea to what extent. This time last year was a real eye opener for us and our feet didn’t touch the ground in December. Now we’re ramping up to Christmas once more we’re hoping for another surge – and if last weekend was anything to go by there’ll be lots of Brewery gifts under the tree this year too!”
Having traded for a whole year, the shop has experienced demand during other seasonal times which it didn’t originally anticipate. “Supplying beer for weddings has been a really key area for us,” added David. “As we sell draught beer in a range of container sizes from 1-40 litres, beer by the gallon as well as the hire of hand pumps, goes down really well at weddings, not to mention bottles of beer for favours and gifts for best men. Our 5L mini-kegs are perfect for summer BBQs or weekends away. Birthdays, anniversaries, thank yous – a bottle of someone’s favourite beer or a selection of a few can make a great gift at any time.”
Although popular all through the year, Christmas is obviously a key time for the shop, hence its opening this time last year. Festive gift packs are out now, as well as jute bags, and the ideal ‘make your own’ hampers. Bottles of beer for the Christmas table and the Brewery’s seasonal 6.2% special, Santa’s Tipple, is absolutely perfect!
And it’s not just beer that the shop can offer. “We’re becoming well known for our wide selection of local artisan gins and speciality wines,” added David. “We’ve got gins to suit every taste, as well as beautiful gin glasses and the opportunity to make your own gin hamper. Spirits, including our very own English single malt, Tove Mill, Christmas liqueurs and mulled wine are all available to make sure everyone can toast good health to all their loved ones with their favourite tipple.”
